A Facelift Can Help You Achieve a More Youthful Appearance
Wrinkles and sagging skin can cause your features to lose definition and make you look much older than you feel.
At Facial Aesthetic & Laser Center, Dr. Frank W. Shagets offers facelift surgery to reduce signs of aging, sculpt and redefine your features, and dramatically enhance your appearance.
So why should you consider undergoing a facelift?

A Closer Look at the Procedure
During your initial consultation, Dr. Shagets will review your medical history and perform a detailed examination to ensure you are a good candidate for this procedure. He will also review the additional treatments available, such as a blepharoplasty, brow lift, and implants to help you accomplish your goals. Once your personalized treatment plan has been established, Dr. Shagets will schedule your procedure.
One of our nurse anesthetists will administer general anesthesia or heavy sedation and carefully monitor you to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure.
Before beginning the procedure, one of our nurse anesthetists will administer general anesthesia or heavy sedation to make you as comfortable as possible throughout the procedure. Once you are asleep or sedated, Dr. Shagets will begin making discreet incisions in front of the ears, around the earlobe, and behind the ear to tighten loose muscle and skin. He will then carefully remove excess skin and meticulously close the incisions to minimize scarring.
The overall procedure can take anywhere between three to four hours. If additional procedures are performed, the surgery could take up to seven hours. Dr. Shagets will place drains (small tubes) in the incisions to help with swelling and then apply dressings, bandages, and compression garments. The drains will be removed during your first post-operative appointment.
You will be given detailed postoperative instructions to follow and ensure you have a smooth and comfortable recovery. Within the first 48 hours, dressings can be removed and you can take a shower and gently wash your hair. The overall recovery will take about two to three weeks and you will have routine follow-up visits during this time so Dr. Shagets can monitor your recovery.
Risks and Benefits
Although it is possible to experience bleeding, hematomas, and nerve injury with a full face lift, the risks are very minimal when performed by a board-certified and experienced doctor such as Dr. Shagets. In about six months, once you have fully recovered, you can expect to enjoy a beautifully contoured face with an overall younger-looking appearance and improved self-confidence.
